While at the Culture Fix gallery bar, I overhear the conversation between a Father and his daughter. Sarah moved to NYC from California in September and this weekend was Fred’s first time visiting his daughter in NYC. “My biggest worry was..she just graduated from college..and I had grand hopes for her to be a teacher or a social worker ..not doing that ..she is a nanny and she workers in a cupcake store…and for this I sent her to 4 years of college..and then i remember what i did when i graduated from College. I worked for 2 years as a waiter. And my parents wondered the same thing ‘for this we sent our son to 4 years of college’ I am proud of her.” Fred is a huge advocate of online education and a math professor at a 2 year college. He calls himself the “online guru”. A great unscripted conversation at NYC’s Culture Fix gallery-bar on Clinton and Houston street.
MY SMALL STORY
Over the past 15 years I have traveled, filmed and and acquired a library of over 6,000 hours. From the recording studio in NYC to South African Safari’s, I have filmed my conversations and watched my library grow. On April 26, 2010, I launched www.MySmallStroy.com in NYC as a way to share insight. My Small Story contextualizes life through a collection of unscripted filmed conversations with small businesses, entrepreneurs, artists and everyday people filmed, edited & shared weekly by LaRon Batchelor – a videographer/ethnographer with 15 years experience filming conversations in 4 continents.
